The unusual name is catchy, although I've never seen a tortoise this color and I bet no one else has either. The pattern of the frame is tortoise-like and the combination of gray, white, and black shades in this pattern are attractive. Could it simply be the stylishness of the frame that causes the listing on EyeBuyDirect to declare: "Tortoise Eyeglasses for Women"? Other things to notice about the frame are (1) the large size is large, but the frame is neither unwieldy nor garish. (2) The manner in which the temple arms attach to the lenses-holding portion of the frame is sleek. (3) The mostly metal temple arms are thin, as noted in the listing; in fact, they are so elegantly thin that they almost make me nervous that they will bend easily--though I see no evidence of that. (4) The announced "polished metal nose pads" are new to me, very comfortable, and I like them, even though I have never before encountered a metal pad. (5) This frame seems extremely light in weight. Finally, (6) this frame caught my eye, so I ordered a pair of glasses to be made using it. Despite the gender-bias in the listing on the website, I bought the oddly named frame. I am not a woman. I didn't care. I like the looks of the frame. They look just fine. Even on me. In fact, I've received a couple of compliments (from women!) about the glasses--and no one has yet accused me of anything untoward.
